The Adirondack Forty Sixers, Inc. is throwing a grand 100 year anniversary celebration in honor of the first three finishers and what would be the stage for all of us that followed.

On June 10th 1925, brothers George and Robert Marshall and their guide and friend Herbert Clark became the first finishers of the Adirondack 46 High Peaks. We celebrate 100 years since this date of the first finishers with a grand celebration filled with fun and educational events in recognition of their endeavors and the club's rich history.

1:00-4:00 PM  Celebration Event at Paradox Brewery. A special commemoration will be presented by Senator Dan Stec. Live music and speakers will be showcased.Come and enjoy the  food, music and comradery. Space is limited and sign up in advance is required. Seagle Festival is proud to present the second ever production of this exemplary new opera by one of the most performed contemporary opera composers alive today. The opera is based on the tragically true story of a young boy (Mayo) committed to the Iowa Home for the Feeble Minded in 1898. Despite Mayo’s repeated requests to be released, it was not until 1957 at age 67 he was properly tested and found to have an above average IQ. What happens to Mayo? Come see the show to witness his life unfold.

Learning through Comics

Saturday, August 16^th – 11am

This workshop will explore the value of drawing as a tool for learning! Drawing can be a potent way to internalize new information and investigate a curiosity. You don’t have to be an “artist” to benefit from exploring new subjects with a combination of both words and pictures. This workshop will introduce participants to the joys of visual note-taking and together we will spend time researching a topic of choice and creating a single-page educational comic from what we learned. 

No drawing experience necessary!

Materials needed: colored pencils, graphite pencils with erasers, printer paper (at least 2 sheets per participant), pens (just regular ballpoint pens are perfect).

Celebrate the Completion of MacNaughton Cottage: A Hike and Toast!

Join the Open Space Institute (OSI) for a special event celebrating the successful rehabilitation of the historic MacNaughton Cottage and significant enhancements to the Upper Works Trail. This monumental project, 20 years in the making, has transformed access to the southern High Peaks, creating a welcoming, safe, and accessible gateway while revitalizing a vital piece of American and Adirondack history.

What to Expect:

Gather at the beautiful MacNaughton Cottage for a refreshing 45-minute walk. The journey will take you along the historic Adirondac Village foundations and include a leisurely hike on the newly refurbished Upper Works Trail (a small loop, 0.35 miles total). Following the walk, you'll return to the Cottage for a celebratory champagne toast led by OSI President and CEO, Erik Kulleseid, accompanied by light snacks.

This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the new improvements firsthand, learn about the rich history of the area, and celebrate a significant achievement in conservation and accessibility.
