5 Towns – One Goal

The 5 Towns region of the Adirondacks is home to some of the most wild and beautiful mountains, lakes, and rivers in the eastern United States. These places are defined by vast open space, protected lands, and close-knit communities. Together, Minerva, North Hudson, Schroon Lake, Newcomb, Indian Lake, and Long Lake form a landscape where wilderness and village life exist side by side.

Spanning thousands of acres of state-protected Forest Preserve lands, the 5 Towns encompass renowned peaks, iconic waterways, and welcoming hamlets that serve as gateways to adventure. From hiking, skiing, camping, and paddling to historic sites and lakefront retreats, the region offers year-round experiences rooted in both recreation and stewardship.

About 5 Towns

5 Towns is a regional advocacy partnership representing the Adirondack communities of Newcomb, North Hudson, Minerva, and Schroon Lake in Essex County, along with Indian Lake and Long Lake in Hamilton County. Formed following New York State’s acquisition of significant land tracts in the region, the partnership builds on work previously associated with the Upper Hudson Recreation Hub and now collaborates to promote and protect shared natural assets while strengthening the area’s identity as a premier year-round Adirondack destination.
