Mt Sabattis Recreation Area

Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area is located in beautiful Long Lake, across from the Post Office. The park has something for everyone, in every season! This is a carry in, carry out property.

Getting there

Located right off the main route through town, Mt. Sabattis Recreation Area is easy to find! From the intersection of Routes 30 and 28N, turn right onto NY-28N West / NY-30 South. In 0.2-miles, turn left across from the Post Office.

About the park

In summer, visitors can enjoy a tennis match or basketball game on maintained courts. In winter, there is an ice skating rink and sledding hill. Mt. Sabattis is also the entrance to the Long Lake Snowmobile Trail System.

New since 2021 is a skateboard park at the Geiger Arena. New ramps and rails are designed for use by any non-motorized piece of equipment, including: skateboards, roller blades, scooters, and bikes. The skate park is open from dawn until 10:30 p.m. and is free to use. Equipment included in the set up are 4 quarter pipes, safety rails, launch ramps, fun box, and a grind kit.

In every season, the view is the best feature. At the pavilion picnic area at the top, the view is fantastic! Please don't drive up to the pavilion, though; the road is not for passenger vehicles.

Minerva Ice Skating Rink

Minerva Lake is a great place to enjoy ice skating. It is free and is a perfect spot to introduce your kids to the sport. In addition to skating on Minerva Lake, the recreation area features an outdoor skating rink. Adjacent to the skating rink is a warming hut.

Schroon Lake Ice Rink

Kids of all ages can enjoy some traditional winter fun at the Town of Schroon Ice Rink!

How to get there

The ice rink is located on Leland Avenue, behind the tennis courts and across the road from the Town Beach. There is public parking.

Ice skating

The rink is open all the time: days, nights, weekdays, and weekends. It is located in a pavilion. There are lights for evening skating. Since ice is weather dependent, the rink may open and close if conditions don't allow for safe skating. Please check with the Town of Schroon Chamber of Commerce or visit the rink's website before visiting to ensure you'll be able to get on the ice.

Newcomb Ice Skating Rink

Make the most out of winter at the Newcomb Ice Skating Rink!

How to get there

Ice skating

The rink is open all the time: days, nights, weekdays, and weekends. It is outdoors, not under a pavilion; please be sure to plan ahead.
