One of the greatest allures of the Adirondacks, besides its magnificent beauty, is the community spirit and quality of life of the small towns and villages that are sprinkled throughout the region. In 2006 the Town of Schroon was one of three communities in the State that was awarded the Governor’s Quality Community Designation.   One of the upsides of purchasing a home or vacation property in the Adirondacks is that you have the opportunity to become an integral part of the community by volunteering for a myriad of community functions and activities.

If you are reading this column it is safe to presume that you have already discovered the Adirondacks – where a 6 million acre park is shared by small rural communities and wilderness.  You will find magnificent natural settings, countless recreational opportunities, varied cultural events and peace of mind.  Recently in speaking with a young couple on vacation in the Schroon Lake area they exclaimed “what a great place – we played tennis in the morning, had a delicious lunch, went for a paddle on the lake, then played 9 holes of golf, enjoyed a great dinner and went to a show in the evening.  It just doesn’t get any better!”

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again:  the Adirondacks are a wonderful place to live and play.  We love it here!
